The NSX play for VMware has come through the Nicira acquisition and the evolution of vCloud Networking and Security. What NSX boils down to is an ecosystem of networking products that include orchestration, network function virtualisation, and hypervisor awesomeness. This is delivered in an overlay styled network.
I am presenting at the Melbourne VMware Users Group (VMUG) this Thursday the 21st of November. The focus of this VMUG is NSX, vSAN and vFlash – the building blocks of the Software Defined Data Centre. With the topic set I was asked by Craig Waters to deliver a community presentation for the event. My talk is entitled “The strength of Titans – building networks that support vertical growth” and encompasses the following:
- Traditional networks
- Old applications and scaling
- Overlay networking vs Flow programmability
- Cloud-walking
